29-Year-Old Palmyra Man Arrested After Family Member Reports Discovering Sawed-Off Shotgun in Home to Police

A 29-year-old Palmyra man was arrested following an investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office into a firearm removal request, authorities announced.
According to law enforcement, deputies arrested Travis J. Weterrings, of Route 21 in Palmyra, after a family member reported discovering a loaded, sawed-off shotgun in the residence and requested its removal. During the investigation, deputies determined that the firearm had not been properly secured and was easily accessible to a young child.
Weterrings faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a firearm, failure to safely secure a firearm, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Officials stated that Weterrings later turned himself in and was taken to the Wayne County Jail for processing. He was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Palmyra Court at a later date.
